MY NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS 2018

By Char Shields - January 04, 2018

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Last year, I wrote about my new years resolutions for 2017 (you can click here if you would like a refresh), and recently I answered those resolutions - spoiler alert: I didn't do so well.

Again, I know it's a little late but I've been thinking about what I want to achieve this year. I don't feel particularly motivated right now but I really want 2018, to put it in short, to be the year I get sh*t done.

So without further ado, here are my 2018 resolutions!

1. RECOVER

Okay, so that was a bit vague, but I would really like 2018 to be the year of recovery.

I said the same about 2017 and that didn't exactly go to plan, but towards the end of the year I did seek help which means I can now kick start this year with resources already in place.

I understand it's a slow process, but I'm really sick of mental illness taking over my life. In 2018, I'd like to see a positive change.

2. GET FIT AND HEALTHY

Last year I lost a lot of weight. At the end of the year, I gained almost all of that back... great.

This year, I actually want to get fit and lead a healthy lifestyle so I can maintain that weight loss. Not only will my body thank me and look amazing, I will also feel a lot better about myself in general.

3. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH MY HAIR

Of course, I had to throw in something that wasn't so big and serious.

For quite some time now, I have done nothing with my hair. Apart from the odd trim, I haven't cut it, dyed it or done anything really exciting with it. I've just kinda let it sit there, getting tangled.

I'm not saying I want to cut it all off again or go back to when I was 16 with my crazy blue hair, but I would like to do something with it. My current ideas are either cutting it short (ish), dying it a different colour or getting a fringe.

On second thoughts, the last one might not be such a good idea...

4. FILL A JAR FULL OF MEMORIES

I set this one last year and I'm setting it again because it's something I find really worthwhile.

I do feel like 2018 will be a more exciting year than the last - turning 21, moving into a house with my friends, seeing Foo Fighters - so, I would really like to stick to it this year.

5. GO VEGAN

Ironically, I'm writing this while eating chocolate.

I was originally going to just go vegetarian, but realised that I might as well go vegan since I'm lactose intolerant.

Not only will this be so much better for my health and reduce bloating massively, it'll also make me feel so much better morally. I don't want to give anymore money to the evil meat and dairy industries who torture and kill animals needlessly everyday.

I don't use animal tested cosmetics, I never drink dairy milk and I've been vegetarian on/off throughout 2017. I feel like I can make those last few steps towards veganism in 2018.

6. GET WORK EXPERIENCE

I've been thinking this a lot lately but I would really like to get some work experience in Journalism, Copywriting and Publishing.

Not only will I gain knowledge, it'll also help me when I leave university and need to get an actual job.

I love my course and I'm really keen to get out there and gain some experience.

That's it for my 2018 resolutions! I feel like I've set the bar quite high this year...

Thanks for reading!

Until the next time,

Char.
